Brides,  if you are avoiding that frosted/metallic/iridescent look and want to add depth, dimension and a flattering cast to your eyes, you’ll need a collection of shadows that are truly matte. I love a neutral palette with shades ranging from light to dark. For a photo-ready look, every bride needs an essential palette of a selection of subtle and smoky shades browns.

Start by blending an ivory shade on the brow bone. Follow with a light taupe or caramel; remember to blend it well on the lid. A muted golden brown is a typical crease color for neutral looks. A deeper brown in the crease to make it look more defined and dramatic. A chocolate brown color is a must, the trick to this shadow is layering the amount you put on your lid. A light layer can give you a subtle daytime look. If you pack on the color, you will get a sultry smoky eye . You can come up with lots of great natural or dramatic combos with these colors! A dark brown-blackish matte eyeshadow is great for smudging along the lash-line to make your lashes look thicker. It turns any daytime look into a night look, and if you blend it in with a matte jet black it adds dimension to eyes. A sultry chocolate palette of dramatic shades, perfect for creating any smoky eye look. Look for shades with velvety/suede finish with amazing color pay-off.

A very pigmented matte dark brown eyeshadow and a creamy bisque shade should be a staple in everyone's collection.

A very pigmented matte dark brown eyeshadow and a creamy bisque shade should be a staple in everyone’s collection (in my opinion).

Thick eyebrows are making a big bold come-back this season and were seen across a wide variety of runways. Eyebrows really frame and define the face and pull the whole look together. Following the natural shape of your brow is generally the rule of thumb. Designer Faces – NARS: Marc Jacobs Spring 2013

Another Awards show has come and gone, and The Grammy’s did not disappoint! Though music’s biggest night usually brings out celebrities’ most wild styles, the 2013 Grammys produced more traditional fashion moments. I found myself loving so many hair and makeup red carpet looks.  Here are the favorites of the night that are perfect for bridal. . . Whether or not they walked home with a statue, they’re winners in our book for highlighting their best features and inspiring our brides with these gorgeous makeup looks and hairstyles.

The 10 Best Mascaras For Your Wedding

Water-resistant mascara is not optional but essential on your big day. My brides often ask me about my technique and favorite water proof formulas. My brides all seem to want lengthened, defined and evenly coated lashes at the stroke of a magic wand.

Water-resistant mascara is not optional but essential on your big day!

Water-resistant mascara is not optional but essential on your big day!

Personally,  I can’t stand the necessary evil of what are most waterproof formulas. Most waterproof mascaras are hard to layer on and leave lashes brittle. So ideally I stick mascaras that have conditioning agents to help prevent that ‘stiff lash’ look. I am always looking for a mascara that doesn’t smudge at all and holds a curl. I prefer mascaras with wands that can really get at the outer, inner and lower lashes. Since most of my brides opt for false lashes, I like the ones that can assist me in connecting single falsies to your natural lashes by blending them in. The trick is using a a tiny brush that doesn’t get clumpy during application to coat every single lash. Try this tip and you’ll have long, full lashes that won’t run or smear and flutter beautifully.

My quest for the best tear-proof bridal mascara has lead from subtle, natural formulas to those that give my brides doll-like, curled lashes, I have tested just about all of them,  so I offer you my pick for the 10 very best waterproof mascaras for brides. Whatever your criteria, it’s sure to be met here. The idea is it must stay on through tears, rain and be impossible to take off without waterproof makeup remover. It must not be too heavy, but then not too light, and definitely with not give you clumps. It must define your eyes and deliver major volume, giving your lashes a fuller, lifted appearance! Can something like this exist?

The 10 Best Mascaras for your Wedding

  1. Dior Diorshow Iconic Extreme Waterproof
  2. Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils
  3. L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion Waterproof
  4. Lancôme Hypnôse Waterproof
  5. Lancôme Définicils Waterproof High Definition
  6. Maybelline Lash Discovery Waterproof
  7. Guerlain Le 2 De Guerlain Waterproof
  8. CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof Mascara in Very Black
  9. Mary Kay Lash Love Waterproof Mascara
  10. Chanel Inimitable Waterproof Mascara

Last words on using waterproof mascara for your wedding… Even the best mascara waterproof formulations, because of their staying power, can be drying to the lashes and create considerable wear and tear to the eye area, in their removal. I recommend using it for your wedding only, not daily.

About Aradia

My blog has been a playground to showcase my passion about makeup, hair, skincare, and many other bridal beauty-related topics. The merging of bridal fashion and beauty to express individuality. I love sharing with my brides my techniques first-hand, which are centered around long lasting, high performance makeup. Surrounded by sources of inspiration in my life, I am continuously learning, and sharing what I learn. For me, makeup is a visual language used to communicate inner beauty and the love in bride’s heart. Makeup is a channel by which a bride can express her emotion and complexity. She can be soft and understated or she can be transformed into a dramatic and daring version of herself. Makeup is not just a mask, something to hide imperfections with. It can change not only the way you look at yourself, but how you look at others all around you. It’s all about the element of creativity and expressiveness through color and texture, and quite simply how beautiful it makes one feel.

Accentuate Those Big Beautiful Eyes On Your Big Day!

Long and lush lashes will always be in. So yes, using them to accentuate those big beautiful eyes on your big day will make the big difference of night and day in your photos! The best part is if they are put on correctly you’ll still have them for your honeymoon. After all, eyelashes are an infallible, eternal method of seduction and they can never be long enough.

I know that in most cases, looking “fake” is a bad thing, but as many of you brides know, an exception to this golden rule are your eyelashes. With lashes, the bigger the better. False eyelashes provide a dramatic way to add length and volume to your natural lashes and enhance the entire look of your eye makeup.

I love to apply lashes on my brides. The individuals (clusters), half lash or wispy lashes are perfect for my brides who want to look like themselves but, with a little extra something. False eyelashes always complete the whole look on your wedding day even for brides that want look very soft and natural. You should know that even my most beautifully blended smokey eyes would look somewhat incomplete if they were created without adding those long, gorgeous lashes. Therefore dear brides, wearing false eye lashes will definitely make your eyes look more beautiful. There are so many styles out there in the world of lashes – if applied correctly they can look natural and stay in place. I have never had a bride cry so much that her lashes come off.
