Classic Modern Wedding Day Makeup Style

As a professional makeup artist dedicated to brides, I rely on traditional, tried-and-true techniques to achieve modern, fashion-forward results, in order to create clean, iconic looks. Looking for the perfect classic yet modern look for your wedding? The following tips will help give you a gorgeous makeup application that will effortlessly blend the romantic, classic bridal style with modern sophistication.

Classic Modern Wedding Day Makeup Style
The most important thing about this look is the use of tones; subtle hints of color make all the difference.

  • When choosing color for cheeks, opt for hues slightly darker than your natural skin tone. This will give some depth to the look and add an understated element photo-ready makeup. Try a more daring shade of blush. Fair complexions look best in bright pinks while those with deeper skin tones can carry off corals.
  • Look for sheer eye shadows that you can layer on for a more or less saturated effect. To keep things chic, concentrate the color from the lash line to the crease, applying one sweep if you’re fair and a few more if you have darker features. Contour your eyes with liner and shadows in different variations of the same color for an understated but elegant effect. Just add a light brown shadow to the lid and then rim both the upper and lower inner water lines with a creamy black gel liner so it stays put to make eyes pop.
  • It’s important to bronze the right spots with the best brush that disperses the perfect amount of pigment and won’t streak so you don’t look over-bronzed. Apply bronzer first to soften the contrast with your complexion and focus your swirl on the apples of your cheeks. It should look like a warm glow that came from the sun not from makeup! Target the higher planes of your face, including the forehead, hairline, bridge of your nose, across your cheeks and chin. Brush a bit on your neck to make sure your face and body match, too.
  • For kiss-proof and photo-ready lips, apply one of the revolutionary new lip stains that will deliver intense color with an airy feel The idea is to keep your color rich and shiny. Paint it on with a lip brush instead of applying right from the tube, by using a brush it allows the color to sink into the texture of your lips.  Remember, exfoliating your lips regularly is a requirement with lip stains. For those brides who want the impact of a lipstick with the texture of a gloss try any of these heavily-pigmented liquid formulas: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture A Levres Gloosy Stain, Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Color, and Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. Pro tip: Coat lips with color, then kiss both sides of an oil-blotting sheet, this lifts excess moisture but leaves behind rich pigment, then, add another coat.  Long-lasting color guaranteed, so pucker up!
