Vintage Wedding Makeup & Hair – Today’s bridal makeup inspiration is from a gorgeous vintage Vogue Spain Jane Birkin-like wedding editorial.

One of my favorite decades for amazing fashion, design, music, makeup and hair is the 60s. And it’s still inspiring brides to this day!

The 60s were all about enhancing your favorite features and making a bold statement.

As an ode to the infamous mod looks of the era, I’ve put together a how-to on how to create this striking look for your vintage inspired wedding.

MAKEUP

The eye shadow look is pretty simple to create, although the lashes take a bit of practice.

With a small eyeliner or angled shadow brush, line just a smidge above the natural crease of your eyes with a dark brown, grey, or black shadow. Loose powder works best, a pencil may even be used very lightly if accuracy is an issue, just be sure to smudge it so it’s not just a solid line.

HAIR

To get that Shrimpton-esque height, you need to backcomb the crown and sides of your hair with a natural bristle brush.

Use a teasing comb to tease their hair and a boar-bristle brush to get great volume and help to smooth hair out.

With the vintage trend taking prominence this season, brides have an element of flexibility in regards to hair and makeup. It’s fascinating how much bridal fashion has changed as well as the similarities that are reflected of past trends.

Brides that are inspired by vintage looks need to take a look at these exceptionally stylish and progressive alternatives to traditional looks.  As the great saying goes, “there’s nothing new under the sun.” This classic adage is especially true in regards to the “something blue” in wedding looks.
