New Year’s Eve is quickly approaching and that means glamorous and glittery eyes to lure in that kiss at midnight!

So throw on your season’s best and some sparkling jewelry, and have some fun this holiday and New Year! Here I will show you how to create shimmery eye makeup to shine brighter than Times Square and perfect smoldering smokey-eye to leave 2013 with a big bang! You are sure to be the center of attention as the light catches those stunning eyes and flawless face making you the most beautiful bride to be of the night.

Holiday Glitter - Sparkle Like You Mean It!

Holiday Glitter – Sparkle Like You Mean It!

New Years Eve eye makeup is all about magnificent sparkles! How can you subtly apply glittery eyeshadow?

There are a multitude of options to use glitter in a subtle manner that will add radiance to highlight a feature on the face. Look for incredibly lush, sparkling shadows with saturated colors, with glitter of precious metals. But keep in mind that the larger the glitter, the larger the flash of light, and the smaller the glitter, the more understated the look. Metallics don’t have to be scary when you do them correctly! Try applying a metallic eyeshadow or pigment to your eyelids and along the inner corners of your eyes, to make them pop without being too overpowering.

New Year’s Eve is fun because you can go a little bit darker with your smokey eye and get away with it! I love the messy, rocker chic makeup look; it’s effortlessly cool and you don’t have to worry too much about touching up throughout the night! If you love something ultra smoky with lots of black, false lashes, and smoldering, this all-black smoky eye may be your cup of tea. Blend a darker, matte color into your crease and smudge it along your lower lash-line to finish up the look. A pop of metallic color on the inner corners of your eyes is the perfect way to transform a regular smokey eye into perfect New Year’s Eve party makeup.

It’s all about holographic hues that transform at the blink of an eye.

Makeup that shifts and flashes in the light is the ‘pièce de résistance’ for New Year’s Eve. Add a touch holographic sheen to your eyes to elevate your look from simple to extravagant in an instant.  It’s all about flickering glitter!  Look for opalescent shades that fluctuate in a spectrum of shimmery specks. There are so many lustrous, multifaceted hues out there to choose from.

Smoky, Sultry, Sexy and Subtle.

If you aren’t used to wearing much color, it’s important to build the intensity up slowly. You can experiment with just a swipe of eyeliner. Consider using a glitter liquid liner or sparkle liquid liner, which is great if you have contacts, as it stays in place and you don’t have to worry about excess flaking off. For a different look, use a metallic eyeliner pencil to rim your eyes. Since metallic colors are so intense, I recommend applying several coats of mascara or even a strip of false lashes to give your eyes the definition they’ll need. Remember to keep the rest of your face nude. The eyes are way too dramatic to compete with bright cheeks or lip.

Happy New Year to You and Yours!
